Degus - 2 for $20

The common degu (Octodon degus) is rodent that is native to the country of Chile in South America.  They are social animals, so they must be adopted in groups of two or more!  Degus enjoy being handled and make great small pets.

Degus can live up to 10 years in captivity.

Habitat

Degus like to chew, so they will need a habitat that is NOT made of plastic!  Ideally, they would be housed in a large multi-level cage with plenty of room for climbing and exploring!

Diet

Ideally, a degu will eat pelleted degu food.  They can also have chinchilla food and hay that is not green. Certain fresh veggies may be offered.  Degus in captivity also need fresh water supplied daily.

Habits

Degus enjoy exercise wheels, foraging, climbing, dust baths, and chewing.  Provide your degu with safe chew toys for ideal enrichment!
